Picture with Tamron 150-600mm – part 1
Today’s picture is of a tiger. It was taken handheld and I was standing about 30 meters away from the tiger. The camera that was used was a Canon 70D and the Tamron 150-600mm lens.
Enjoy!

Wild animals – using Tamron 150-600 mm
I have been away for awhile and the reason for that is because I went to Sri Lanka to take some nice pictures of wild animals. I went to Yala National Park to see if I could get a glimpse of some leopards. I was lucky to see two. They were up in a tree and there were leaves and branches covering the leopards. So I had to be patient and wait for my moment to take the pictures. That is the challenge when you want to take pictures of animals. Good thing that I had my Tamron 150-600mm lens with me. Otherwise I would not have gotten these close ups. I also bought a Canon 70D camera body that I used to take these pictures. I will be doing a review of Canon 70D in another segment. I will be uploading some more pictures of some interesting looking birds in the coming post. For now you can enjoy these pictures.

Think Tank – Glass Taxi bag
I was looking for a small bag to fit the Tamron 150-600mm mounted to my Canon 60D. I had seen the review with Jared Polin for this bag. He was able to put in lots of pro lenses in that small bag. He was very surprised by how good the bag was and was saying it was light weight. So I thought I have to try the bag to see what the fuss is all about.
I was checking it out in the store and I also had my camera and the Tamron 150-600 mm lens with me to try it out.
First thoughts of this bag was that the lens and the camera fits in the bag! That is a good start.
When the padding came into the picture, the issue started. The shop keeper and I tried to build it up so that you would be able to fit the camera house mounted on the big Tamron 150-600 lens and still have some lenses on the side of the big lens. That was not easy.
The good thing about Glass Taxi bag is that it has a option where you can choose to only have a big lens in the middle of the bag but then there will be no space for any other lenses. See the picture above to understand what I mean.
As you can see from the picture above you can fit lenses on the side if the big lens is straight. The problem with the Tamron 150-600 mm lens is that it is not straight and that makes it little harder to fit in this bag. The Tamron lens becomes wider in the end of the lens. That puts the camera house in a strange angle in the bag and the padding does not fit then. I am not saying it wont go, but I am saying that the camera bag is not built for the Tamron 150-600m mounted on a camera house.
This is what you can use the bag for:
- Holds up to a 500mm f/4 lens.
- Holds a 300mm f/2.8 with DSLR
- Holds a pro DSLR
Technical Specifications:
- Interior Dimensions: 8.3” W x 16.3” H x 8” D (21.1 x 41.4 x 20.3 cm)
- Exterior Dimensions: 8.5” W x 17” H x 9.5” D (21.6 x 43.2 x 24.1 cm)
- Weight: 2–3.7 lbs (0.9–1.7 kg)
Glass Taxi can be used as a backpack or a shoulder bag. You can attached a monopod or a middle size tripod on the side of the bag. With the speed/skin belt you can attached even more components on the belt, if you want that.
Another thing I noticed with the Think Tank Glass Taxi bag is that the side of the bags are very thin. This means if you happen to drop the bag your lenses and camera equipment can take damage. That is the reason I did not buy the bag. To bad Think Tank, other wise it would have been a nice bag. I am not willing to take a risk with this bag.
It does not matter that the padding in the middle on the inside of the bag is thick because there are no padding on the sides of the bag. This is something Jared Polin forgot to mention when he did his review and praised this bag.
A good advice is to always try out the bag in a store before you buy it. If you order the bag online you will not notice these things until you open the bag and then it might be to big of a hassle to send it back.
The price is right now around 159 US dollars. The pictures are from Think Tank’s site.

Pictures of fire
During earth hour my city arranged for a fire show. It was a nice event and here is some picture from it. The fire performers are called Favilla.
I have not tried to take picture of fire before so this was a good experience to learn which setting that suited me the most. I have used a Canon 60D with a prime lens of 40mm. I have tried different apertures to see which one that suited the most. If you move the mouse over the pictures you will find out the setting that I have used for each picture. It might be useful for you when you want to try to take pictures of fire. The settings worked for me and might work for you too.
What is common with all the pictures is that the pictures where taken without a flash. Most of the pictures are also cropped to remove unnecessary elements that take away the focus from the performers. Some pictures might have a green light because I had my Circular Polaris filter on as I do not have a UV filter for this lens yet. The CPL filter will also have made some effect to the picture even though I did not pay much attention to the filter and did not turn it because I only wanted to test the setting on the camera at this event.
When I took the pictures I choose tungsten in the white balance mode.
All the pictures are taken handheld, no tripod have been used. I love the sparks from the fire in this picture.

Closer look at the Tamron 150-600 mm
Ever wondered what all the Letters stand for that comes after the aperture number? The Tamron 150-600 mm f/5-6.3 DI VC USD has DI “Digital Integrated design”. VC stand for Vibration Compensation. USD stands for “Ultrasonic Silent Drive”. Lets take a closer look at the Tamron 150-600 mm lens. I let the picture do most of the talking:
With the lens you also get the big lens hood and the detached tripod mount. This particular lens version is for Canon.
When the lens is set for the lowest of focal length of 150 mm and with the lens cap front and back the lens is about 27 cm (10.62 inches).
When the focal length is set to 600 mm the lens is about 35 cm with the front and back cap.
The zoom is from 150 mm to 600 mm. Which make it a great ultra lens for outdoor shooting. It has a zoom lock as well.
VC stand for Vibration Compensation and it is Tamron’s image stabilization system.
The lens is 95 mm. It might be hard to come by this lens size but online you can find shops that have filters for this size.
I have bought a filter called B+W UV 95mm MRC, which one shop was selling especially for this Tamron lens. This filter also have a sky-lighter filter which give a pink tone and make it a warmer color tone in the picture.

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 VC USD
I have a new favorite lens to wish for. It is the Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 VC USD. I have read many reviews about this one and I feel that all are recommending this lens. If you have this lens you do not need any other lens for super zoom. That suits my requests.
I was looking at the pictures that have been taken with this lens and they are amazing. Right now it is hard to get a hold of this lens because Tamron just started shipping them out to the whole world. Although when there are more lenses in stock then I will hopefully go for this one as my next big superzoom lens or as Tamron like to call it a Ultra-tele lens.
Some info about the lens:
– Quiet and fast auto focus
– Less than 2 kg (1951 g), (4.30 lb)
– Good price for what you get = money value is good around 1069 $ in US, it is little more expensive in Europe though.
– It is stabilized
– 150-600 mm in focal length (with crop censor 240-960 mm)
– Smooth bokeh
– Height is 26 cm
– Can be bought for Canon, Nikon and Sony
To think about when you buy this lens:
The lens does not come with a lens bag. If you want to buy a filter to this lens it should be a 95 mm filter. You will get a lens hood, front and rear caps and a detachable tripod mount in the box with the lens.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm
A good lens with a good zoom is the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II. It gives sharpness and brightness and is easy to work with. It has a image stabilizer to make the picture less blurry.
I love to take pictures of animals:
The lens might feel plastic but the quality of the pictures are amazing. The lens is cheap too. As you can see on the above pictures, the lens gives colorful pictures. I have not done anything to the pictures, no effects. The only thing I have done is to put my logo on them.

Canon 50mm 1.4

Canon EF 50mm f1.4
I would love to own a Canon 50mm 1.4. It is still more than triple the price of the 50mm 1.8. The question is: Is it worth it?
The 50 mm 1.4 is good for taking picture where there is less light, for example taking a picture in the night near a street with few road lamps and some cars driving by. It is also of course good for taking portraits. Compared to 50 mm 1.8 this lens takes brighter pictures and also sometimes it can be felt to be taking sharper pictures as well.
Hello everyone!
This will be a blog where I display some of my photos which I like to share with the world. Enjoy. I will be showing the results with different lenses and I will be reviewing different cameras. Both system cameras as well as other digital cameras.
To check out the pictures results choose the menu option called lenses. I have started writing about one of my favourite lens called Tamron 90 mm 2.8. It is a macro lens and worth all credits. It take amazing pictures. It is taking clear pictures and its also a fast lens. To know more about it, choose that option.
To know more about different cameras and its function I have made a menu option called cameras. Here I will write about Canon 60D and Sony cameras. You will also see how the cameras look to get a better understanding.
Im also thinking of doing a segment with the cameras I would like to have and give informaiton on why I would like to have them. It can give youa great idea on what is new and what might also suit your needs when it comes to getting a great camera.
